  • Folk Project Special Concert presents John Gorka with Meg Beattie Patrick

John Gorka is one of the outstanding singer-songwriters of his generation. He has released more than a dozen albums since 1987, has landed recently on the Billboard Folk Charts, and is recognized as preeminent performer and national touring treasure.
John’s lyrics are meaningful, sensitive, insightful, intelligent, and occasionally funny as all hell. His songs delve deeply into the heart and soul of himself and of his audience. His gritty, gospel-like baritone adds gravity and meaning both to his intimate, heart-wrenching songs, and to his more socially poignant ones.
The Boston Globe said, “Gorka is widely heralded for the sophisticated intelligence and provocative originality of his songs.”
Rolling Stone Magazine called John Gorka “the preeminent male singer-songwriter of the New Folk Movement.”
The New York Times wrote that “Listening to John Gorka sing, one can get goose bumps all over. There are many reasons: fresh lyrics, a stunning emotional baritone, and his twisted humor.”
The Folk Project says, “Don’t miss this very special concert.”

Meg Beattie Patrick was raised in Manhattan, where she was inspired by a wide variety of musicians. She has a stellar voice, prodigious songwriting chops, wonderful skills on guitar and piano, and a winning stage presence. Audiences love and enjoy her.
Meg has written and performed in a wide variety genres including indie folk-rock, blues and jazz. She’s played in NYC, New Orleans, Montclair and North Jersey at dozens of concert series, nightclubs, cafes, clubs, radio stations, televisions, museums, and recording studios, including Café ZED, Music at The Mission, Outpost in the Burbs, Trumpets Jazz Club, and the Montclair Art Museum.
